So much of who we are gets wrapped up in our jobs, titles, labels, and the environments we navigate each day. We find ourselves in places we may not always want to be, those spaces that make waking up in the morning feel heavy. We deal with people whose presence might leave us taking the long way around just to avoid the shallow chit-chat, wishing we could simply pour our coffee or leave for the day without being stopped by a conversation that could wait until tomorrow.
Or maybe it’s those moments when all you want is to walk into a grocery store after a long day, only to feel cornered by the same familiar faces trying to sell you something. Depending on the energy you have left, you might choose to deal with it or decide to drive to another store just to avoid that interaction. These are the moments when the weight of being human feels most real, when all you want to say is, please, not today. I just need to get my groceries and go home.
Give yourself permission not to internalize these emotions. You don’t have to carry the weight of irritation or frustration. Allow your authentic self to come through, embracing how you truly feel without judging yourself for it. Let go of the expectation to always be available or agreeable. Sometimes, it’s okay to just say, not today, and honor your own boundaries.🧘🏾♀️☮️🌱🦋
